Uninstalling
Programs

I have to delete programs on a regular basis as I collect them
from all over the place, evaluate them and then get rid of the ones
that I either don't like or will never use.
Programs will be the greatest users of your hard disk space so if there
are lots of old or un-used programs sitting in your Start menu then now
is the time to get rid of them.
Unused programs not only take up disk space but also slow your computer
down in other ways. They each have registry entries and the fewer of
those you have the faster Windows will operate, the turn up in your
Program menu list and that takes time to populate and they each have an
array of boot and data files each contibuting to a clunky system.
If you gfo and check your Start menu you will, I'm sure, find a few
programs they you never use - if you know that you'll never use them
get rid of them. If you're not sdure then copy them onto a CD or DVD
and store that - but get them off your machine if you want better
performance.
The worst offenders are large programs or games. Macromedia, Adobe, Cal
lof Duty, etc., etc. will gobble up hard disk space and stretch
Windows, sometimes, to the limit. Get rid of whatever you know you
won't need.
Note: If you're a
serious gamer copy any high end game onto a clean hard drive with
nothing else on it and run it from there. When you need to really get
the best out of your system reformat the drive before installing
another game you might want to play. I know this is a lot of work but
it does rack the system up.
